KPS works with BP Aral Gotha to replace metal piping, protecting people and the environment

As we all face this unprecedented and challenging time, radically adapting our working and personal lives, we first want to state our heartfelt gratitude to the frontline workers who are out there every day helping to keep us safe and essential services running: our doctors, nurses, supermarket workers, delivery drivers, and many many more; including those involved in fuel retailing and delivery.

This case study tells the story of a project completed before the lockdown went into place, where KPS worked with BP Aral in Germany (Gotha) to replace their previously installed metal pipework with our corrosion-free double wall polyethylene piping, protecting people and the environment.

Problem

The previously installed steel fuel piping had become damaged as a result of rust over the last twenty years, causing the pipes to leak. No down time or interruption of sales was a key requirement of this project, so a solution had to be put in place before the old piping was disconnected.

Solution

KPS easy install double wall piping was installed one level above the existing steel pipes, then once the plastic piping was in position, the tank was disconnected from the old piping and connected to the new KPS piping above, preventing interruption of fuel sales.

Result

BP-Aral’s Gotha site in Germany now has a long-term corrosion-resistant solution. KPS double wall piping is quick and easy to install whilst preventing fuel leakage, continuing to perform year after year.
