Co-op, the largest player in the convenience sector in the United Kingdom, is serving up a new larger store in the town of Ulverston this week following a £515,000 investment. The new 2,900 sq ft, convenience store, located in Priory Road, runs on 100% renewable electricity, says Co-op.

Co-op’s new Ulverston store includes Amazon Lockers, a free ATM, a bakery and, Fairtrade coffee dispenser alongside an enhanced focus on fresh, healthy products, meal ideas, food-to-go, ready meals and pizzas, wines, free-from, vegan and plant-based products and, everyday essentials.

“The new, larger, store has a great look and layout, it is much brighter than our former store and we have been getting a great response from the community. We are delighted to be serving-up Co-op’s newest store, and we have worked to develop the range, choice, products and added services to create a really compelling offer locally,” said Chris Prosser, Co-op Store Manager.

A funding boost is provided locally through Co-op’s Membership programme. Membership of the Co-op unlocks additional value through in-store offers and, sees Members rewarded with 2p in every pound they spend on Co-op branded products which is added to their own personal Membership account balance. The Co-op also donates the same amount to local causes.

Co-op has around 4.6 million active Members, and alongside Food, it operates: Co-op Funeralcare, Insurance and Legal Services.
