Asda names new Managing Director of LEON
Mac Plumpton will step up six months after the retailer acquired the British food-to-go and coffee chain from the EG Group.
Asda has named a new Managing Director for LEON six months after acquiring the foodservice chain from the EG Group.
Mac Plumpton, former Tapas Revolution executive, has been appointed by the British supermarket chain to lead the company in its new position. According to a report by World Coffee Portal, Plumpton will succeed Ashley Davis, who served as Interim Managing Director since November of 2023 and will depart next June to become Chief Commercial Officer at Cook.
Prior to Davis, Glenn Edwards held the position until last November, as he oversaw the transition from petrol forecourt operator to the retailer. Asda fully acquired LEON’s 78 stores across the UK alongside its 462 licensed Greggs, Burger King and Subway outlets in a £2.07bn ($2.5bn) deal.
The supermarket chain’s plans for the coffee brand involved opening LEON stores across its retail network in the UK. Currently, the chain sells the brand’s wholebean and ground packaged coffee, waffle fries and condiment ranges.
