Aral is committed to accelerate the expansion of its ultrafast charging network by doubling charging points across Germany. The retailer aims to have a total charging network of 3,000 chargers under its Aral pulse brand.

The company currently operates around 1,500 points and plans to invest up to 100 million euros for the expansion throughout 2023.

E-mobility has picked up pace lately across the country. Aral pulse has expanded its charging network by 50% to just over 1,300 charging points in the second half of 2022. At the same time, customer interest in charging solutions grew even faster, with the company selling twice as much electricity as in the first half of the year.

"In just 24 months, we have built one of the largest ultrafast charging networks in Germany. And in 2023, Aral will continue to set the pace for charging station expansion. With our expansion targets for this year, we are well on our way to achieving our medium-term goal of well over 5,000 charging points," said Alexander Junge, Aral Board Member for Electromobility.

Although the expansion of the charging infrastructure has gained significant momentum, Aral states that Germany still falls far short of its potential. The firm acknowledges that the biggest challenge for charging station operators is currently the long planning and approval processes.
